In golf and maybe in startups, it is possible that less is more. Brain breaks can go along way to creating a sustainable and successful company. I am not a big big golf fan (I play 2-3x per year at an annual guys weekend in Michigan). As a sports fan, I watch the big golf tournaments especially if a great story evolves. This weekend is the US Open at one of the most difficult courses in the world. A recent article about the world’s #1 golfer – Jason Day – in the Wall Street Journal got me thinking about the parallels between startups and being a top tier golfer. The thread that stuck out was the concept that many times less is more. Are you running your startup in 5th gear without any breaks to recharge? This will catch up with you and sooner rather than later. Jump over to my Inc article as I reveal a healthy lesson from Jason Day.
