Adam Klein joins the Capital Broadcast team to coordinate and capitalize on the region’s entrepreneurial eco-system thriving in Durham and the Triangle. Adam will operate as the Chief Strategist of the American Underground starting August 7. In this role, the former Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce staffer will help guide the scene to even greater success via efforts concentrated at The American Underground, a startup hub founded in 2009 at American Tobacco Campus.

Klein’s duties will include programming, marketing, branding, leasing, and operations of the Underground.

“At times it feels like our region’s entrepreneurial strategies are equivalent to trying to catch lightning in a bottle,” said Michael Goodmon, vice president, Capitol Broadcasting Company. “Adam’s job will be to put a concerted strategy in place to capitalize on our entire region’s initiatives so we’re presenting the Triangle as THE place to be for investment and opportunity.”

At the Durham Chamber, Adam co-founded the Bull City Startup Stampede, a 60 day initiative that gives entrepreneurs free space in downtown, a powerful network, and access to other free resources. The program has brought 36 companies to downtown Durham with more than half remaining in downtown.

He also co-founded The Smoffice, The World’s Smallest Office competition, which was awarded to a startup from Illinois in the spring. The Smoffice and the Stampede have been featured in TechCrunch, Fast Company, The Atlantic, NY Times, TechJournal South and Triangle Business Journal.
