What have you learned about hiring & firing as a startup founder?

James is one of my favorite startup founders around here.  Period.  He is self-taught, he has strong opinions, he is transparent about his successes and failures and most importantly, he has a bias to action.  He gets things done.  There are so many things I could have asked James, but this one really sticks out to me:
