Well, it is Thanksgiving and a time for a little reflection from this entrepreneur. With a healthy bit of reflection I simply want to say, thanks. Thank you for the advice, fellowship, and work. Thanks for your time, your brain, and your actions. This entrepreneur thanks you. Who am I thanking?
Those who have mentored me. Bart Faber, David Cowan, Richard Clarke, Wes Thomas, Brad Feld and countless others. You see you all had experiences, knowledge and insight that I lacked. But most of all you were there when I needed you. That is a great mentor.
To family and friends. My Mom and Dad and my brothers and my Uncle Doug who got me started on the computer mapping journey. We all need that unwavering support – especially when we doubt ourselves. I have never lived close to my family as I chased down the next business venture, so friends become family. I can count SO many friends over the years who consistently lent me their support as if I was part of their family. Thanks for inviting me in.
My professional network (many of whom also became great friends). Casey Steinbacher, Adam Klein, Michael Goodmon, Ron Daly, Perry Evans, Jim Hilliard, Dan Etter and Kathy Kinney. Archie O’Connor, Jessica Mitsch and Jason Caplain. David Cohen, Nicole Glaros, Cali Harris and Ian Hathaway. At times we had a strong connection over business that motivated both of us to lean in hard. I could not have done it without you.
To customers and clients who listened to my vision for a product or service that I thought could help you do your thang better, faster, cheaper. There are so many to mention (probably hundreds) but if you are reading this – know that I am thinking of you right now. At the end of the day, there is no startup or eventual business with your monetary commitment. I trust I served you well.
You see, I am just a geeky, geography nerd who gets bored easily. I love the challenge of creating something from scratch. I learned that I am not smart enough to figure it all out and that I needed you to help me along the way.
So, thanks for being part of my entrepreneurial journey.
